Urban settlements in Belize.

One thing geographers look for in urban settlements in countries like Belize is the agriculture; the Belize area is the perfect example of why geographers look at aspects like agriculture. Looking at agriculture aspects of Belize is important because the country of Belize is able to grow different types of food and expand their economy. Another aspect geographers look at in urban settlements is the population growth. It is important to note the population growth because if the population is higher, then there are more people to contribute to the economy.

Belize does not have many urban areas but the biggest city in Belize is Belize City, 52% of the population live in urban areas, but they rely more on the agriculture of the rural, which makes up 48% of Belize's population, to support their growing economy. The population growth in Belize has unfortunately decreased dramatically within the past few years. The citizens of Belize are currently experiencing a very high growth in their unemployment rate, which is 16.1% and shows as an outcome that the economy is weak. many people from other countries have provided help to try and boost the Belize economy by providing medical help, clean water systems, and the spread of religious beliefs, thousands of people from other countries have gone to help the people of Belize on mission trips and are trying to help the people get jobs and get more of their economy going.
